Thoughtfully, I turned on my heel and walked slowly toward the bathroom, wondering if she and Constance had planned this thing intentionally or if she was actually trying to help me out unselfishly.
I dosed the old man with his medicine and rubbed him down with alcohol eliciting a grunt of pleasure from him, re- marking that I was stronger than I looked. Strangely, he did not ask me one question about my avoiding the draft, as he must have known I was doing, and by the time I had finished with him we were almost on friendly terms. If my
